Atri is one of the most significant and important village in the Center of Italy as far as history and art are concerned. Very active during the Etruscan period, it reached is highest peak in richness during the politically strong Acquaviva Family who decided to establish there and remained for almost 4 centuries, until the town got back to the Reign of Naples to finally take part to the Unity of Italy in 1861.

The town preserves a rich artistic patrimony that varies from the churches to the hometown theater, the auditorium Sant'Agostino.

It is also a very important place as far nature is concenerned as a matter of fact it hosts the "calanchi" which is a protected area by the WWF.
